Priya Prakash Varrier’s Manikya Malaraya Poovi song to get banned?

Priya Prakash Varrier’s wink from the song Manikya Malaraya Poovi from Oru Adaar Love has taken the nation by a storm. For some reason, no one seems to be able to get over the way she flirts with her classmate in the teaser of the song that went viral. But accolades and praises are not the only thing that the song garnered. It also got embroiled in a controversy. We told you how a Muslim Group has taken offence to the lyrics of the song, saying it hurts religious sentiments. According to them, the words Manikya Malaraya Poovi when translated in English insults the Prophet. If that wasn’t enough, a fringe group has appealed to CBFC to ban the song now.
But the group and the cleric, who first complained about the offensive words in the film, have no issues with Priya at all. They have even mentioned in their statement that it has nothing to do with the actress. Meanwhile the song, sung by Vineeth Sreenivasan, is topping the charts already. The romantic theme and melody have worked its magic on the audience. As is obvious from the song, the film will be all about high school romances. It stars five actors and actresses. It made Priya Prakash Varrier an overnight star and the credit goes to her perfect wink. With 2.6 million followers and more, she has managed to beat the likes of Dulquer Salmaan and Anushka Shetty on Instagram already. The 18-year old’s wishlist of actors to work with, has Dulquer’s name on it. Oru Adaar Love will release on March 2.
